Robotika

Hi!

Greetings my fellow robotic engineer! Let me introduce myself. My name is Gabriel A. Zorrilla, I'm a Industrial Engineer student at UTN (Universidad Tecnológica Nacional - technological National University), Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'm 22 years old and I work at G.N.C. Galileo as assistant at the technical support department of gas dispensers.

G.N.C. stands for Gas Natural Comprimido - Compressed Natural Gas, a form of fuel used in cars and machines, it's a derivate of oil (the oil pool has 2 layers, the lower one is the oil itself, the upper is the gas) and its main advantages over the gasoline are its price (costs about 3/4 less than the gasoline) and its environment-friendly nature, emits 30% less CO2 than the regular gasoline.

This proyect started a week ago. I love programming and computers, and I have been fascinated about robots for years. I used to say 'wow, look at that, a two wheels, box style robot that hides from light, must be so hard to make!'. That statement is so far from the truth. The fact is that, with simple elements and some basic electronic and programming skills, you will be able (and me too, I hope :) ) to build and program a nice little fella that will follow your prewritten orders and even to 'think' in a very limited way, as limited as you want.

I have not found a site like this one. A site dedicated to tell the world the advances of a newbie robot engineer, and to give a step by step guide for building a robot. All fellas say 'bah, you will not find a guy that will tell ya step by step how to build a robot! It's a waste of time to look for a guy like that!' It's true, although I'm sure that such men exist, might be hard to find. Not a problem! I'm here to help you and share my wisdom! I'm here to learn from you!

Despite the fact I'm from Argentina (Castilian speaker country), I shall post in English, because two simple facts:

  • English is the international language of the moment. I've visited hundreds of sites from all over the world, mostly european ones, and they are in English. I have some european mates in Messenger, and we speak English. This will allow fluid communication with all the world, meaning more chances to get feedback from real life robotic engineers.
  • Perfect chance to practice English!
  • Don't be afraid Castilian speakers, the site will have a section in Castilian, mostly the PDFs that I shall be posting in time.

Enough said! Let the games begin!
